"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! nature journal wannabes

This is a sampling of some of the flora and fauna of Central Oregon.  Erin took these when she and Audrey went scouting for sheds with their dad a couple of weeks ago.  Of course I was playing hooky and didn't get them posted at the time but I thought they were worthy of a day showcased in this prestigious blog spot!  ;)

Thanks to everyone who left such empathetic responses to our Memorial Day Weekend trauma.  I shared them with the girls and we are all grateful for such sweet friends.  I pray rich rewards for all of you who take the time to share here regularly.  I am so blessed by each and every one of you !

Hugs and smiles, Debbie

  1. OOh. Loved the lizardy thing....how well he is hidden! And the flowers and the towering tree and the tiny lichen on the rocks. And of course, the bunnykin. She has a good eye and this prestigious blog was the perfect place to showcase her talent!

  2. I loved all but one of them. OK, I'll admit that the leapin' lizard one was cool, but I still got a case of the creeps looking at it.

    Unbalanced. I'm unbalanced.

  3. You part of the country is so rugged. I really need to "go west, young man", or in my case old lady, and experience all it's beauty in person. And yes, I do believe this is a prestigious blog!

  7. I really must visit your beautiful state one day. My husband has an aunt who lives in Eugene so there is hope I can make it there.
I just read yesterday's post, oh dear. It's so hard, this growing up thing isn't it? It's nice that the lines of communication are open and family is there...always! That is how we 'roll' here too. Much love to you and yours Debbie as we travel this earth together.

  9. Hi Debbie: Those are really nice pics! And the wildlife let you take their picture! You would be so bored with the nature in Delaware...although the seashore nature is refreshing, if you can be there without the throngs of people!

I'm sorry your daughters had to experience the bad side of life. How wonderful they have a strong family to take the blows that are dealt. They will be stronger for it now. I love your Bible quote...these are the times we are living in and it is so appropriate "wise as serpents and innocent as doves." love, andrea

  11. Dear Debbie,

I think your girls are well on their way to being pro nature journalists! I love seeing what my children do with our camera when no one's around; they take some amazing pictures, among the silly ones!

    Love,

  14. I love the out doors -- nature is where I'd live if I wouldn't get eaten up by bugs and well you know other big animals that roam around.. wink! Lovely photos..indeed!

  15. Okay, I gotta say this. If I had been on a nature walk and had come across that head and shoulders (do lizards even have shoulders?) peering out from under that rock, I not have been around long enough to take his picture! ~~shudder~~
As it is, I can look at it here in this safe place, here at your blog.
Do you do nature journals (a la Charlotte Mason style)? We try to, but this year's entries are sparse. I always enjoy it when we make the time to get out and enjoy God's creation...but I don't do it nearly enough.

  16. I think my favorite way to nature journal is to take pictures. [o= It was so neat to see what it looks like in your neck of the woods! Such beauty!

Praying blessings on you and your family.
    Blessings and ((HUGS))
